Hindley. Simpsons electrical goods shop. The BBc commenced daily radio
progs in 1922 and by the late 1930,s over eight million licenses had
been issued. Listening to the wireless was very popular in those days.
Many Hindley families must have bought there radios from this shop. |

Hindley, Bird ith Hand.
1900
A rare photo depicting the two tramway systems which once served the
wigan area. Om the left is the open top electric tramcar No28 of the
south lancashire tramway comp which ran from Atherton to Haydock. On the
right is the steam tram and trailor, which ran from Hindley to Wigan.
